How to make a Wi-Fi QR code

  1. Enter the network name exactly as it appears in your phone's Wi-Fi list, including capital letters and spaces.

  2. Enter the password and pick the security type. Most routers use WPA/WPA2/WPA3; choose WEP only for very old routers.

  3. Tick “Hidden network” only if your network doesn't show up in the list.

  4. Test it with a phone that isn't connected yet. It should offer to join straight away.

Tips

  • Print it at least 5 × 5 cm and put it where guests wait: by the entrance, on tables, at reception or in a guest room welcome folder.
  • If your router has a guest network, use that one, so visitors stay off your main network.
  • Recent iPhones and Android phones join straight from the camera app. If a phone doesn't, open its Wi-Fi settings: many have a “scan QR code” button there.
  • Changed the password? Make a new code. The old one still contains the old password.

Common mistakes

  • A typo in the network name. It has to match exactly, capitals included.
  • The wrong security type. If you're not sure, choose WPA.
  • Sticking the code on the router itself, hidden in a cupboard where nobody can reach it.

Why our codes never stop working

Many QR sites make dynamic codes. They point to the site's own short link, which then forwards to you. When the free trial ends, the link is switched off and every printed code stops working.

QRink makes static codes. Your link, Wi-Fi password or contact details are written directly into the pattern. There is no middleman, no account and no expiry date. A static code printed today will still scan in twenty years.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no trial, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make. The site is paid for by ads.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes, so the content lives in the image itself. They work as long as the image can be scanned.

Can I use the codes commercially?

Yes. Print them on menus, flyers, packaging, business cards or signs. You don't need to credit us.

Can I change where a code points after printing?

No. A static code can't be edited after it is made. If the content changes, create a new code. Tip: point the code to a page on your own website that you can update.

Which format should I download?

PNG works everywhere on screens and in documents. SVG stays sharp at any size, so use it for print, signs and design programs.

Why doesn't my code scan?

The usual causes are low contrast, a light code on a dark background, a logo that is too large, or printing it too small. Keep it at least 2 × 2 cm and test it before printing.
